Emergency Medical Responder Class
Thu. Aug 1st 2013

Glen Rock EMS will be conducting an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) class at their station at 59 Water St. in Glen Rock.   It will run on Monday and Wednesday nights, with a couple of Saturday classes.  Total class time is ~64 hours.  A full syllabus will be posted at a later time.

This course is intended for the person who is most often at the scene of a trauma or medical emergency.  Emphasis is on the EMS system and providing immediate care of life threatening injuries or illness, controlling the scent, and preparing for the arrival of the ambulance.  The program is divided into the following sections: Preparatory, Airway, Patient Assessment, Medical, Trauma, Special Patient Populations, EMS Operations.

This is introductory training for those wishing to be involved in the EMS system, however is also an excellent course for those in an industrial workplace, commercial facility, fire service, daycare, or many other situations that require a more advanced first aid training.

Glen Rock EMS is a volunteer organization and is in need of ambulance attendants and drivers.   Satisfactory completion of this training will qualify you to assist YOUR local EMS organization.   Please consider taking this course and please consider helping us help you!!

There is a course pending approval at the PA Dept. of Health that would allow those successfully completing this course to take a "Bridge Course" that would allow them to continue their training to the EMT level, without repeating the units already covered in this curriculum.   What a great way to "test the waters" to see if EMS may be for you.   Glen Rock EMS is community members helping one another.   There are many benefits to joining us.   There is no residency requirement to being a member of Glen Rock EMS, and sleeping quarters are available for our out-of-area members.   Please contact EMSchief@glenrockems.com or call 717-235-6497 for more information.

More information on this program will be posted as plans develop. Please consider this and please spread the word.
